A high-quality education is one of the most important things that we can provide a child. Exposure to a variety of topics, people, and adventures all contribute to a fulfilling scholastic experience.

The primary purpose of this scholastic website is to assist elementary classroom teachers implement chess into the Mathematics curriculum, following the Expectations for the Geometry and Spatial Sense strand, as currently outlined in the Ontario Ministry of Education Curriculum Guidelines for grade 4.

Teachers and students may find the lesson material presented here, combined with computer gaming applications, to be both helpful and highly practical in introducing and cultivating an interest in the game of chess.

Using a website as the vehicle for communicating chess instruction facilitates not only technological learning for students, but also assists teachers who might not otherwise teach chess.  There are also many teachers that do not possess the time, nor do they have the resources to develop a series of chess lessons in curricular application for Mathematics.

This approach allows students to access chess resources for:

- instruction in a classroom setting,

- enrichment in an I.E.P.,

- as suggested homework,

- a P.A. day/school closure activity,

- a school chess club.

With the click of your mouse, you have the world of chess at your fingertips!
